Lockaid -Supplies Required By A Locksmith
A locksmith requires a wide variety of tools to successfully complete tasks within a short span of time. Some of these tools are standard locksmith tools required only by locksmiths and are available at locksmith supply houses while others are everyday tools available anywhere and used by most people. A locksmith should be in possession of standard locksmith tools so that he can carry out different tasks. Specialized tools can be purchased at a later stage or when the need arises.
Some of the normal tools required by a locksmith include key banks, a key making machine and a key decoder. A decoder is a tool that accurately decodes cut depths in a key and helps in the process of rekeying and code cutting. Other tools required by a locksmith are pins, a pin tray to serve pin tumbler locks, extractors for broken keys, cylinder removal tools, a key micrometer for measuring the depth of cuts on keys, pliers for removing cylinder rings and retainers. Other tools needed by most locksmiths are clip removal tools for door handles or window cranks, a pin kit for rekeying, a lock and a safe scope amidst other things. A locksmith is better off carrying a code book like the Reed Code System. These code books not only have card and key guide numbers but also have useful information that tells a locksmith how to make a key, to fit any given lock.
Besides tools, a locksmith also needs a workshop to pin locks and rekey them. The workshop should have good lighting and ventilation to ensure safety. In addition, the workshop should have several electrical outlets and the locksmith should make sure that the circuits don't get overloaded due to increased power consumption when he is working. The workshop could also serve as a storage area for tools and supplies. Thus, the workshop’s usage and layout is very important as it can greatly facilitate growth in the business.

To be properly kitted, a locksmith has to invest several thousand dollars and if he wishes to specialize in several areas, he will have to buy different tools for each of those areas. Hence, although he might start out with investing a few hundred dollars, he will need to eventually invest an amount that’s proportionate to the growth in his business.
Hood latch? major problems?
My car has been recked several times and now the hood latch is bent I cant replace it because the metal is so far down the hood wont reach. I can't afford a new car so I need a way to fix this without welding basically my question is will 6 hood pins work? you can by hood pin kits at autozone and I was wondering if its okay if it replaces my actual hood latch.
Sounds safer then a bungee cord - yes. But should only need two of 'em. There are rubber pads on bolt heads that cushion the hood, usually one at each front corner - Still there? ..still touching the hood ?? A good place for a hood pin.
