What is the tool called that is used to turn the cut off valve on the water supply outside your house?
I need to replace a washer on the shut-off valve inside my property as it is leaking. In order to do this I need to cut off the supply from the mains outside. The shape of the valve I need to turn outside is about 1 inch square, hence I need to know the name of the tool I should use to perform this operation - and if possible where would I get one from.
Instead of investing in a tool you will probably never need again, I would contact the water utility to see if they would cut the water off while you make the repairs.
