how to make an air mixer for my gas fire pit?
I have made a lpg (propane) gas fire pit and need to make an air mixer for it. This is an venturi thing, how can I make this easy with my existing brass fittings?
It's pretty simple! I'm in the middle of making new burners for my 5 burner grill out of 3/4" copper pipe (Had the pipe already but not the $150 for new burners) and after I got into it I couldn't believe how simple the design of the old ones were. It's basically just a small pipe (Valve) inside a larger pipe with openings at the end of the larger pipe that have a slide cover to adjust the air flow. I've attached a link that will show it.
One thing I found out the hard way, since the old ones had holes along each side that were very close to each other (looked like they rolled a gear along the side to stamp a track of square holes into it) and mine had holes that I drilled, I had to use an awl to bend each hole toward the next so when I lit the burner the flame would travel from one to the next. Without bending, I had to light all of the holes manually.
