fuel rail problems raditor problems?

this is a 3.1 engine GM motor the fuel rail was removed during the rebuild it was replced with new O-rings and leaks like a siv and the radiator just dosent seem right the engine was started and ran for mabe less than 5 minutes the cap was removed and the back pressure was enough to scare casper the goast now this engine was rebuilt so every thing is new including head gaskets head bolts all new seals bearings and gaskets so any ideas guys

You have to bleed the air from the cooling system on a 3.1. There should be 2 bleeder valves on the engine. 1 at the thermostat housing, 1 on the bypass tube near the water pump. Open these valves, then fill the system until coolant flows from them. I use what is called a no spill funnel. You can buy one at a parts store. It has a fitting that screws on like the radiator cap, it lets the coolant rise and fall as the engine temperature stabilizes. Also you have to have a 50/50 mix of coolant and water.
As for the fuel rail, remove it, make sure the holes in the manifold are clean and smooth(no crud build up) and reseal it.
